Triumph at the Golden Gloves

On February 15th, one of Art of Boxing USA’s brightest stars—Ray Middleton—was crowned the South Carolina Golden Gloves champion in his weight division. It was his first time competing at 175 pounds, and he only found out about the competition one week before his first match. But with his commitment to training as hard as possible no matter the occasion, and the steadfast guidance of our very own Coach Brown, he powered through each of his rivals and took home the top prize.

After discovering a knack for fighting, Ray picked up boxing seven years ago. He chose our gym out of pure chance: we were just a short walk away from his house, and we were all the luckier for it. Yet since that fateful moment when he stepped into our ring for the first time, Ray has been one of our best, most hardworking athletes. It has been an honor to watch him grow into such a talented boxer, and an even better person. We at Art of Boxing USA could not be prouder of his dominant triumph at this year’s Golden Gloves, and we look forward to his next match in Charleston on March 14th!
